Former MLB shortstop Derek Jeter had his charm spread to every community. No doubt about that. It got proven when a US senator discussed his Hall of Fame induction during the impeachment trial of former president Donald Trump. Notably, Jeter’s fame had people fawning over him from every nook and corner of the USA.

A proud representative of the Queens and Brooklyn, Rep Hakeem Jeffries turned his attention to the Bronx when the two events overlapped. The Yankees’ shortstop got elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. On the other side, the former president’s impeachment trial had begun. Jeter’s induction would have been unanimous had he got just one more vote in his favor.

But alas, that didn’t happen. Rep Jeffries wanted to subpoena a couple of people for the Trump trial going on. Somehow, while doing so, he got his inner Jeter fan rose. And he wanted to subpoena the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Why did Rep Jeffries want to subpoena the Hall of Fame for Derek Jeter?

The Hall of Fame election committee consists of 397 people. For Jeter’s selection to be unanimous, all those people had to vote for him. But Jeter got 99.4% of the votes. This means that out of 397, there was only one person who did not cast his/her vote in favor of the former shortstop Derek Jeter

But the one person who did not vote for Jeter had bugged the senator. Also, he did talk about it. According to the video that ABC news posted in 2020, the senator said, “We hope we can subpoena John Bolton, subpoena Mick Mulvaney. But perhaps we can all agree to subpoena the Baseball Hall of Fame, to try to figure out who, out of 397 individuals, one person, voted against Derek Jeter.”
