However, there was a time when the former Yankees slugger struggled in his illustrious baseball career. Notably, A-Rod’s PEDs scandal changed the course of his legendary career. From being hailed as a modern-day great, A-Rod’s downfall started after his PEDs scandal.

When MLB was investigating his involvement with PEDs (performance-enhancement drugs), the former Yankee did everything in his capacity to avoid suspension. But he was fighting a battle that was impossible to win. Alex Rodriguez went on a war against the Yankees and MLB. However, amidst all this chaos, finally, someone talked sense to him. And the Yankees slugger accepted his ban.

Per J. R. Moehringer’s article in ESPN, Alex Rodriguez had no option but to accept his fault and face the MLB suspension. But the Yankees slugger was not ready to accept his fault. However, when A-Rod reached out to attorney Jim Sharp, he suggested stopping his fight against MLB. Because it will only harm his reputation and legacy in MLB.

“You’re ruining your life,” were the words of attorney Sharp. Per Moehringer, it was the time A-Rod realized that he had to accept the ban.

“That jolts him. That sinks in. That’s the thing that makes Rodriguez stop and take stock … Now, he sits. Through the pain (following hip surgery), through the fatigue, he sees with new, dazzling clarity that Sharp is right. It’s over,” Moehringer’s report said.

“He calls off his dogs, tells his inner circle to issue a statement that he’s dropping all litigation, accepting his suspension, effective immediately.”

Notably, Major League Baseball suspended Alex Rodriguez for an entire season in 2014. And later, in 2016, the baseball phenom played his last game in the Bronx.
