Vincent Edward Scully, AKA Vin Scully, is no more in this world. But the legendary sportscaster will forever live in the hearts of the sporting world. Scully’s legacy in the sporting world, especially in Major League Baseball, is no less than the great MLB players like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Jackie Robinson.

He served as the Dodgers broadcaster for 67 years between 1950 and 2016. Although Scully majorly announced for the Dodgers, he received love and affection from every MLB franchise and their fans. Such was the greatness of Vin Scully. 

Following his death on Wednesday, a former Dodgers player paid homage to Scully for making him a special player in baseball. The former Dodger mourned Scully’s death and referred to him as a father figure in his life.

In the 2013 MLB season — when Vin Scully was still a broadcaster for the Dodgers — the Cuban-born American right fielder Yasiel Puig made his big league debut for the LA Dodgers. And the Dodgers star was one of the best young talents in the league.

Taking to Twitter, Yasiel, AKA Wild Horse, shared a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Vin Scully. The former Dodger also revealed that he runs a charity foundation after his nickname.

“You gave me my Wild Horse name, you gave me love. You hugged me like a father. I will never forget you, my heart is broken. My hand over your family’s hearts. Los Angeles, I am sorry I am not there with you today to cry together,” Yasiel Puig tweeted.

“I want to thank you for everything you did for baseball, for calling me ‘Wild Horse’, and giving me that name. I use this name for my charity foundation to help kids around the world…,” Puig said in the video.

Notably, Vin Scully was a huge part of the game, and the MLB world will miss his absence. May he rest in peace.
