Jeter’s induction was proof of his outstanding career and the impact he had on the sport of baseball. His ability to be consistent on the ballpark with his high-level plays was something else.

Three years ago today, Derek Jeter’s dream of baseball immortality was realized as he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Reflecting on the momentous occasion, Jeter recently shared a story on his Instagram profile. It was a video on Players Tribune, a publication he founded. Reliving the moment through a monochromatic video of him sitting with his family at home. 

The video captioned with “Three years ago Derek Jeter was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame”, begins with a phone call from Jack O’Connell. As Jeter picks up the phone, he greets Jack with a casual “Jack, how are you?” But Jack’s response is far from casual, as he delivers the news that will change Jeter’s life forever: “I’m doing well and you’re going to be doing well in about two seconds – baseball writers elected you to the Hall of Fame. Congratulations.”

The video serves as a poignant reminder of the crowning moment he joined the ranks of baseball’s all-time greats. 

Derek Jeter’s Hall of Fame votes

In 2020, Jeter reached the pinnacle of baseball immortality when he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was a given that he was going to be inducted in his first year of eligibility, given his achievements. He received a whopping 396 of 397 votes and then on joined the all-time greats.

His sportsmanship and his leadership on and off the field made him one of the most respected and beloved players in the game. His induction to the Hall of Fame was a crowning achievement in his legacy and a reminder of his greatness.
