LA Angels’ superstar Shohei Ohtani is one of the best players of this generation. Because of his two-way playing style, baseball fans and critics often compare him to MLB legend Babe Ruth. A Rolls-Royce from the mound and a hitting machine from the plate, the Japanese slugger is a dream player for any franchise.

Although Ohtani is an excellent baseball player, he will not mind playing another American sport. Recently, he revealed the name of the sport he would like to excel at. Given his two-way skills, the Angels star can single-handedly defeat any opponent in Major League Baseball.

“My favorite is “Slam Dunk.” I like some others too, but this one is my favorite. It’s really cool. Makes me want to try it (basketball), although it’s a sport I’m not good at. It’s really amazing, I like it,” Ohtani revealed.

Despite not being an American, his love for American sports is unmatchable. As things stand, Ohtani is the face of MLB on the global stage. The reigning American League MVP is also the cover star of the famous video game “MLB The Show.”

Can Ohtani defend his AL MVP Award?

Given the current scenario, the New York Yankees star is way ahead of anyone in the race for the AL MVP Award in 2022.

Ohtani has won only three games out of seven starts he has got in the 2022 season. With a 3.99 ERA, Ohtani has only 65 strikeouts from the mound, while the Japanese slugger has only 11 home runs from the plate.

Whereas, Aaron Judge is having his career-best season. The Yankees star has already smashed 20 home runs this season. Considering the competition, it will be difficult for Ohtani to defend the AL MVP Award.
