Per ESPN, the Yankees have signed him on a one-year contract. The three-time All-Star has 155 home runs in his 11-year big league career. Talking about his deal with the Yankees, Carpenter said he cannot wait to play for the best baseball team.

“We just had a quick conversation about it. But my response to him is that I’m excited to put a uniform on and be part of the best team in baseball right now. I’m just fired up to be here. I’m going to hit the ground running,” Matt Carpenter said.

In his debut game for the Yankees, Carpenter hit two runs in a 7-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday.
