As great as a baseball player and manager is Pete, he is also one of the most controversial players in the League. Apparently, Rose gambled on the game he played, and because of this, he got banned from Major League Baseball in 1989, which ended his career. “You start thinking about people who were responsible you being there that aren’t there,… it was my high school coach, my little league coach, my uncle.. My dad who mentored me, they’re all gone. They can’t be part of the celebration, and that brings tears to your eyes. I just saw my dad when I looked up and that’s what brought tears to my eyes,” he said.
Rose has said that if wasn’t for him looking up after those nine minutes, he would not have cried. He wouldn’t have cried if the ovation ended after six or seven minutes.

On September 11, 1985, at Riverfront Stadium when Pete Rose hit his 4192 hit of the career. And broke Ty Cobb’s Record.
