93-Year-Old Grandma Shows off Hall of Fame Worthy Skills at Her Own Baseball Academy

Baseball is a global sport and is loved by fans all over the world. It has been around for over a century with people of all ages playing and being a part of it. Over the years, an intense fanbase has developed that follows the game religiously. Furthermore, baseball stars are coming from all parts of the world.

The Dominican Republic, in particular, is responsible for some of MLB’s greatest stars and legends. This is due to their young talents being nurtured and developed to stardom. Recently, a 93-year-old baseball academy owner won the internet by showing her immense commitment and talent to the game in a viral video.

Baseball legends come in all shapes and sizes. Dona Norma Diaz is one such legend. She runs a baseball academy in the Dominican Republic for young players. Diaz has been doing this for more than 50 years. By doing so, she has reached thousands of kids. Most recently, MLB Insider Hector Gomez shared a video of Diaz conducting a batting practice at 93 years old. He shared the video via Twitter. 

According to a translated version of the Tweet, Gomez said, “Doña Norma Díaz, sports glory of our country, giving batting practice to the children of her sports league, at almost 93 years of age. Believe it or not, she has not yet been inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame (@PabellonFamaRD).” This shows her commitment and drive to helping her students improve.

But she is not the only 90-year-old taking swings. A 95-year-old Boston Red Sox supporter took swings in a batting cage. This shows us that baseball is truly ageless and anyone can pick up a bat, no matter how old.

Norma Diaz has spent more than half her life teaching baseball

At 93 years old, Norma Diaz has spent more than 50 years hosting her baseball academy. She has dedicated more than half her life to teaching youngsters how to play the game. Furthermore, even at 93, she is doing batting practice herself.
