However, the scenario could have been different in the second game of the series against the Rays. Because there was a pitching substitution confusion in the game. It also delayed the game for 16 minutes.

During the eighth inning of the game, the New York Yankees’ manager, Aaron Boone, made a pitching change into the game. Because he did not want the Rays hitter Ji-man Choi to face Miguel Castro. 

Instead, he wanted the Lucas Luetge to face the Rays hitter. But umpires took too much time to check if Boone can execute a pitching substitution. It took approx 16 minutes for umpires to check.
