It is that time of the year when MLB players probably enjoy themselves the most. During the MLB offseason, some players prefer to spend this leisure time with their loved ones, while some players who are free agents, try their best to land themselves the best contract. And when talking about MLB franchises, they also use this time to strengthen their roster. Recently, the Boston Red Sox, after having a poor season this year, signed a World Series winner with the Dodgers. However, MLB fans did not hesitate to mock the Red Sox’s decision.

According to the reports coming in, former Dodgers slugger Justin Turner has signed a deal of two years for $22 million with the Red Sox. The contract also has an option of opting out after the first season. And the fans are openly mocking Turner and the Red Sox both.

The 38-year-old slugger had played with the LA Dodgers for nine consecutive seasons and had also won one World Series with them in 2020. He had also appeared in two All-Star games, both with the Dodgers only. In addition to all this, he also has won Roberto Clemente Award for his performance this season.

Also, the third baseman Turner had an option of $16 million for the 2023 season with the Dodgers, which he declined to become a free agent. Now, according to MLB’s insider Jon Heyman, he signed to the fourth MLB team of his career, and baseball fans are not leaving any stone unturned in mocking him.

After watching the fans’ reactions, one can easily say that they are not in favor of Turner playing for the Red Sox. Only time will tell how good Turner will be for the Red Sox. When talking about the Red Sox, the AL side will be hoping to have a better season in 2023 after their fiasco this year.

How did the former Dodger play his last season?

Splitting his time between the position of the third baseman and designated hitter, Turner appeared in a total of 128 games. He batted with .278, 13 homers, and 81 RBIs. At 25.0 feet per second, he had the slowest sprint speed of any major league third baseman.
