Despite having one of the best rosters in the entire league, the Philadelphia Phillies have not done so well this season. They are already without the reigning National League MVP, Bryce Harper. And now, they got swept in a three-game series by one of the worst performing teams this season, the Chicago Cubs.

What is more disappointing about their defeat is that they received booing from their home crowd on Sunday. The Phillies have already suffered enough this season. First, they fired Joe Girardi from his managerial position, then when they started winning games, the NL side lost their top performer Bryce Harper for a long time.

And this must have affected the mindset of every Phillies player. Recently, after suffering a series sweep against the Cubs, Nick Castellanos engaged in a heated argument with a reporter. Notably, the frustration on Castellanos’ face was visible. And why not? From now onwards, every defeat will lessen the Phillies’ chance for the postseason games.

Nick Castellanos is every Phillies fan right now

No team is invincible in Major League Baseball. But if a well-balanced team loses three straight games against one of the worst-performing teams this season, it will raise questions about the abilities of the team and its players.

And if such things happen in front of the home crowd, fans would probably not spare their favorite team. The same happened in Citizens Bank Park on Sunday when the Phillies fans started booing their own team.

After the defeat, when a reporter asked Castellanos about the boos from the home crowd, the Phillies outfielder got furious and involved in a verbal dispute with the reporter. The video of the same is still roaming on Twitter.

“Naw, man, I lost my hearing… Come on man, it’s a stupid question… It is what it is, man,” Castellanos said. “I’ve hit lows in my career and I go home and get ready to play baseball tomorrow.”

The curious case of the Philadelphia Phillies

Right from the start of the 2022 MLB season, the Phillies have been clueless in the league games. Although Bryce Harper has been a big miss for the Phillies, in the name of Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos have been doing their bits from the plate.

Another thing that has hurt the Phillies the most is the sudden rise of the New York Mets. After having a blast in the 2022 free agency, the Mets have emerged as one of the title favorites this season. And they are in the same division as the Phillies. In the name of the Mets and Atlanta Braves, the NL East division has two of the strongest teams in the league. And their rise means only one thing, the decline of the Phillies.

What are your opinions on the Phillies’ performances this season?
