After years of waiting, the New York Yankees fans are finally enjoying a good year. Apart from the Yankees cruising in Major league baseball, their former captain Derek Jeter is also having a good time on the golf course.

Notably, Jeter has been playing in the ongoing American Family Insurance Championship. Even though the Yankees legend is not a professional golf player, he was impressive in his first-ever AmFam Championship on the University Ridge Golf Course.

It has been nearly five years since Jeter retired from baseball, but his fan following is still the same. Earlier on Saturday, when Jeter made his appearance in the AmFam Championship, he received a loud cheer from a young fan. And it was quite unbelievable for the Yankees’ legend.

Derek Jeter has probably been the only baseball player who has received love from rival fans. His humbleness and down-to-earth nature set him apart from others. When Jeter was playing on the golf course, something similar happened to him.

Right when he was about to hit the golf ball with his club, a young from outside the fence shouted his name and said, “come on, Jeter!”

And guess what? Jeter smashed the golf ball just like he used to hit a baseball from the plate. Later, the Yankees captain met his young fan and thanked him for his faith and support. “Thank you! I’m gonna turn you into a Michigan fan. I was just playing,” Jeter said.

Talking about the game, Jeter competed with the likes of PGA legend Andy North and NFL legend Brett Favre. It was a quartet game between Jeter and Juli Inkster on one side and Brett Favre and Andy North on the other side.

Jeter in MLB

With a career that spanned over two decades, Jeter won everything in MLB. He remains one of the fewest players to play for a single MLB franchise throughout their professional career. Debuted in the 1995 season, Jeter bid farewell to the game in the 2014 season.
