Today, two Yankee greats, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, 14-time All-Stars and world champions, are amongst the biggest names in the realm of baseball. While Derek Jeter spent his entire 20-year baseball career with the Yanks and retired in 2014, A-Rod accompanied the Yanks for 10 seasons in his 22-season career and the latter retired in 2016.

Jeter and A-Rod have been one of the two finest shortstops to play baseball. However, when A-Rod came to the Yanks in 2004, he switched to third-baseman as Jeter continued playing shortstop.

Playing together, Jeter and A-Rod were competitors on the field. Their concurrent success led the Yankees to their 2009 World Championship win as well. Nonetheless, their dynamic had its up and downs. They started as best friends and eventually, through indirect digs, ego battles, and competition, their relationship got strained. Markedly, in July 2022, “The Captain” – a documentary diving into Derek Jeter’s Hall of Fame career released. Emmy-winner Randy Wilkins directed the docu-series.

Randy Wilkins’ response to rumors about Alex Rodriguez’s documentary

After retirement, Jeter and A-Rod have become popular business and media personalities and have often been the pivot of news. For the most part, there have been rumors about a wedge between the two once best friends.

However, in The Captain, Jeter cleared it all. He said, “There is no wedge. Everything’s good. I know people, to this day when I go places, it’s one of the first things they ask me about. There are no issues between Alex and I at all.” Moreover, the two legends recently appeared in the same room during the KayRod Podcast as well.

Moving on, amidst whispers of Emmy-award winner Randy Wilkins getting together with A-Rod to make another documentary, Wilkins took to Twitter denying any such potential combination. He said in a rather aggressive tone, “A-Rod and I got into it on camera when I interviewed him. I can assure you. We will not work together.”

A sports analyst and commentator, Lance Zierlein, replied to Wilkins asking him about the absence of the Rodriguez beef when he interviewed Wilkins. However, Wilkins replied saying, “I was being respectful of everyone involved. It really isn’t that big of a deal to me. People asking me about a doc on him so I wanted to put it to bed.”

All in all, the Emmy-winner closed the shutter on any future project with him.

While working with Derek Jeter on the documentary, Randy Wilkins was all praises for the Yankee great. He said, “He’s charming, he’s engaging, but he’s really intense. That’s something that, getting into it, I didn’t realize, but it was very clear that’s a strong part of his personality.”
