Ritu Phogat’s sole mission at ONE: WINTER WARRIORS is to leave the Circle with the ONE Atomweight Women’s World Grand Prix Title on her shoulder.

For that to happen, the Indian star must defeat tournament favorite Stamp Fairtex in the final.

Phogat has enjoyed a strong training camp at Evolve MMA under the tutelage of Muay Thai and wrestling World Champions as she prepares for her toughest battle to date. That same group of coaches has also played a pivotal role in transforming the 27-year-old athlete from an MMA newcomer into a top fighter in the atomweight division.

However, there are naysayers who think that lady luck is on Phogat’s side thanks to her wrestling skills. It’s one of the opinions she would love to squash inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium against the former two-sport World Champion.

“It doesn’t matter who says what about me. These things only motivate me further to work even harder,” the 27-year-old said.

“Now, after winning the final, I will prove to the critics that I am one of the best fighters out there.”

Though she refuses to divulge her strategy, the Haryana-born fighter did tease that it will revolve around her greatest asset.

“My game plan for the fight depends on my opponent’s style. I also focus on areas wherein I have an edge over them,” Phogat stated.

“I am from a wrestling background, so I try to find new ways for my takedowns. But yes, we prepare different strategies for different fighters.”

If she defeats Stamp at ONE: WINTER WARRIORS, Phogat will be one step closer toward a ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title shot versus “Unstoppable” Angela Lee.

For now, Stamp and the prestigious silver strap are the only things on her mind.
