Making weight is the most important part of an athlete’s preparation for their fights in every combat sport. Furthermore, unlike any MMA organization, ONE Championship has unique weight-cutting rules. Recently, rising prospect Julie Mezabarba explained everything you need to know about the same.

Additionally, the weight limit per division is 10 pounds more than the actual limit. For example, the atomweight division’s actual weight limit is 105 lbs, but in ONE Championship, it is 115 lbs. Furthermore, in other promotions, fighters weigh in a day before their fights and can lose water weight if necessary to hit the scale.

Meanwhile, in ONE Championship, athletes have to weigh in on the fight day and make the weight without dehydration. Thus, the promotion made their weight divisions 10 pounds heavier.

Recently, rising ONE women’s atomweight prospect Julie Mezabarba had a QnA session on her official Instagram account, where she answered the questions on stories. During the session, fans asked Mezabarba about the unique weight-cutting rules of ONE Championship.
