Khamzat Chimaev is one of the most talked-about fighters in the UFC. It is very unusual for a fighter with three fights in the promotion to dominate headlines. However, Khamzat is no ordinary fighter. The 26-year-old made his debut with the promotion in July and has since then established himself as one of the stars in the promotion.
In his first three fights, Khamzat ran through his opponents, and in the process, set multiple records. He holds the record for the quickest turn around win in the UFC (10 days). He also owns the record for the least time taken to secure three wins in the UFC (66 days). Therefore, it’s not surprising that he is in demand right now.

In a recent interview with Helen Yee, Daniel asked to give his thoughts on Khamzat Chimaev’s current lack of opponents. ‘DC’ replied, saying, “Well it’s because he’s so good. And because he’s not well known yet right. It’s a risk to fight a guy like that. A guy that does not have that big low number next to his name (rank). But you understand his skillset is so dangerous for anyone. I believe he gets a top guy.”

Cormier continued, “I believe he is going to end up fighting a guy like ‘Wonderboy’. After that, he will be locked into the top 5. I was one of the guys that wanted him to take it slower. After watching him dominate like that, there is no need for him to take it slower. He needs to be in there with the best.”

‘DC’ explained that the risk versus reward is not favorable to take on a fight against Chimaev. If an established ranked fighter beats Chimaev, it will not affect his rankings. However, if Chimaev beats aforementioned fighter, it would do him more harm than good to the established fighter.
