Henry Cejudo retired earlier in 2020 and gave up his Flyweight and Bantamweight titles. While we are waiting for other retired champions to do the same (Khabib Nurmagomedov), Cejudo is already teasing a return to the cage.

Not only did he call out T.J. Dillashaw for a rematch, but he is also trying to jump up to Featherweight for a title fight against Alexander Volkanovski.

Cejudo called out Volkanovski by saying he has been avoiding signing the contract to fight him. Along with that, he also said that he will be coming to take Max Holloway’s belt.

‘He Knows His Kryptonite’- Henry Cejudo Proposes Return To MMA To Rematch TJ Dillashaw

“That overgrown baboon. He’s scared man, he doesn’t want to lose to a Flyweight. You kidding me? He’s been offered the fight, he doesn’t sign the contract.

“I’ve been here, I’ve been ready and I guarantee that Alexander ‘The Average’, Mr. Pillow Hands. I want to fight you, beat you, and take Max Holloway’s belt.”

Max Holloway controversially lost the rematch for his Featherweight title against Volkanovski. Most media outlets had scored the fight for Max, but Volk got the nod and holds a 2-0 record over the Featherweight G.O.A.T.

We can very well buy the idea of Cejudo returning. His retirement felt forced and awkward to begin with. He had just beaten Dominick Cruz and could have feasibly been at the summit of the division for a while. However, Cejudo went forth with a retirement.

A Volkanovski fight would be a very hyped affair. The title picture at Featherweight has been muddled, and Volk is yet to book a fight after his win over Holloway.

Max, on the other hand, is facing rising contender in Calvin Kattar. Cejudo could very easily walk into this title picture and become the first man to be a 3-division champion.

A return for Cejudo seems likely, and it will be a massive fight. You can’t have Cejudo just return for no stakes. While a Dillashaw fight at Bantamweight would be exciting, so would a clash with Volkanovski at Featherweight. Triple C always has options open.
