UFC 258 Usman vs Burns took place on Saturday, February 13th, at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. In the major event, we had former teammates who collided with each other when champion Kamaru Usman looked to continue his dominance in the welterweight division by ending the momentum of Gilbert Burns.

Never did Burns expect this loss, considering how he started the fight guns blazing. Burns wanted the welterweight title so badly that he was ready to go against his own coach, who stood by him for 8 years.

Kamaru and Burns got emotional right after the fight as it was not just another fight for them. They both cared for each other and have known one another for a long time. Kamaru tweeted out his respect for Burns and upheld him even after his loss.

Burns is a heavy-handed, highly decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and 4-0 since returning to the welterweight division and has turned into a well-balanced fighter, but that changed after he fought Kamaru as he made a few mistakes that cost him the welterweight title.

What’s next for Burns

Burns stepped into MMA in a bid to record his professional debut in 2012. Later he made his UFC debut in 2014 against Andreas Stahl, and Burns won the fight with a unanimous decision.
