UFC 262 saw a new lightweight champion in the form of Charles Oliveira. The Brazilian finished Michael Chandler inside two rounds via T(KO) in what could be described as an upset win. Despite the loss, ‘Iron’ is confident of making a comeback to the title picture.

Chandler appeared for the post-match interview where he described his loss and his immediate plans to return to the title picture. “I feel like I’m right where I’m supposed to be, I do,” he said.

“I just felt like I was in the right moment. A smile was on my face again. I feel like I’m fighting on borrowed time still. There were moments in my career where I’d never thought I’d end up here. I never thought the door would open and now it has. The first one was the highest of highs.”

Chandler then described he has no qualms in losing to an elite level fighter like Oliveira and he will reflect upon the loss and move on just like he did earlier with his losses.

“Fighting for a UFC title is a world-class opportunity. But as my son knows, every young man falls, but every young man gets back up. The sun will rise tomorrow,” he said.

He added later, “This sport moves quickly. I am still world class. Anybody next to get me into line for the title again, I believe I can beat them and beat anybody in the top five so we’ll see what happens.”

In an attempt to get out of it, Chandler slammed himself backward, but to no avail. He somehow got out of it, rattled Oliveira with a left punch, and continued with some punch combos.

The good thing for Oliveira was that Chandler stayed on the ground with him, allowing him to negate a scare till the end of the round. ‘Do Bronx’ clearly was on the back foot going into the break.

Oliveira became the champ, a process which took 11 years in the making. He won via TKO which was least expected from him as he’s a grappling maestro. As for Chandler, he will look to bounce back strong soon.
