Tony Ferguson is a special athlete. ‘El Cucuy’ is an extremely unorthodox fighter that makes him a real challenge for anyone put in front of him. Ferguson is also an extremely eccentric individual who does not go by the book. Be it his training methods or the way he fights or how he recovers from injuries, Ferguson definitely has his own way of doing things. This is one of the reasons that draw fans towards him.
‘El Cucuy’ has a method to his madness. In 2018 he suffered a torn LCL. The doctors told the American fighter that it would take almost a year if not more for him to recover and get back into the octagon. However, Ferguson took his recovery into his own hands. In a move that shocked everyone stepped into the octagon six months after an extremely serious injury.
Not only did Ferguson recover impressively from a potentially career-ending injury, but he also returned an even better fighter and stopped Pettis in the second round. He left his opponent a bloody mess.
