UFC 257: Here’s How Much Money Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier Are Expected to Earn

The biggest star in all of MMA is back tonight. ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor returns to the octagon to take on Dustin Poirier. The build-up to the fight as compared to the last fight has been worlds apart. In the first fight in 2014, both men were up-and-coming fighters with an eye for gold.
Conor McGregor being the mental warfare genius that he is relentlessly talked trash and wasted no opportunity to get under Dustin’s skin. Seven years on, the approach to the fight has been a lot different from both men.
There has been little to no trash talk in the buildup to the fight, and there is a sense of mutual respect between the two men. There is also an aspect of charity to the bout as ‘The Notorious’ and his team has pledged to donate $500,000 towards The Good Fight Foundation, run by Dustin Poirier and his wife.

UFC 257 promises to be one of the biggest fight cards of the year which translates to huge paydays for both men. Both Dustin and Conor will receive a pre-determined base pay for the fight, In addition, they will also get a cut of the pay-per-view revenue that the fight makes.

According to reports, Dustin Poirier is guaranteed $1million for his fight, excluding his cut of the pay-per-view revenue. The first time the two men fought, ‘The Diamond’ reportedly earned $40,000 for his fight. Meanwhile, Conor McGregor will receive a base pay of about $5 million, excluding his share of the pay-per-view revenue.
Reports suggest that ‘The Notorious’ could walk away with a handsome $20 million or more from the fight. Although it is not his biggest payday, it is a significant amount of money for one of the biggest stars in the world.

The Irish superstar’s fight against ‘Cowboy’ amassed an estimated 1.3 million pay-per-view buys, which was the most for the UFC in 2020. It will be interesting to see how well UFC 257 does and if McGregor can top the UFC PPV charts once again.
