It was almost as if Real Madrid was the loser in the Euro qualifiers match between Wales and Croatia. Two Real Madrid players, one from each side were reported to be injured after the match.

At the end of a 1-1 draw, Gareth Bale was seen limping off the field owing to an injury sustained during the match- an injury which, according to the Wales manager Ryan Giggs, wasn’t that serious.

“Gareth Bale got a bit of cramp. He didn’t want to come off,” Giggs said after the match. “It was a fantastic performance [by him]. It was a shame he got that for the last 10 minutes, so we were down one player really.”

Another Real Madrid player on the pitch was Luka Modric, playing for the Croatia. He was substituted mid-match, and their coach Zlatko Dalic said he would require a break of a few days.

“[Modric] got hit in the muscle, which is awkward and quite painful, so he had to go off,”  Dalic revealed after the match.

“He will certainly need a two to three-day break, but I hope he will be alright.”

While both the players are known to be injured, its extent is yet to be known, and the news might come out once they reach Madrid. Real Madrid will play Barcelona at the end of the month and the fitness of these players will be extremely important for the Los Blancos who already have a good number of players sidelined due to injury.

There was another instance during the Euro qualifier match which seemed as though an injury to Manchester United’s Daniel James. But Giggs was quick to point out that James staying down was down to a bit of “acting.”

In his post-match press-conference, Giggs explained further: “He stayed down and was a bit streetwise. He told the doctors ‘I’m not moving, I’m just sitting still’. Not to get anyone sent off, he was just using his nous.

James also played down the incident and told Sky Sports he had not lost consciousness in his first-half collision with Vida.

“There was a few tackles flying in but you always expect it in these games,” he said. “I’m fine. I think he just caught me in the head but I didn’t get knocked out fortunately.”
