Four days to the start of the ODI series against Bangladesh in Mirpur, and Dhoni is sweating it out in the nets to work on his technique and get back the explosive touch. Yes, you read it right! MS Dhoni is working hard to return to his attacking form, which he had altered to adjust to the Test format.

Now that he has retired from Test cricket, Dhoni was seen batting in the nets at the National Stadium in Delhi with coach MP Singh, to make a few adjustments in his batting style to re-discover the hard-hitting stroke play that defined him in his young days.

“He had widened his stance and started to keep his bat between the feet. He has now decided to revert to his earlier stance in a bid to bring back the booming back-lift. He demonstrated it to me and asked if it resembled his original stance,” the coach said.

Singh also mentioned that Dhoni has become more relaxed and focused with his batting following his retirement from Tests. “He was hitting them hard and clean, like he used to do in his younger days. Don’t be surprised if you see an attacking Dhoni in action in Bangladesh,” Singh said. “I met him a few times in the last few years. Now he seems very relaxed and mentally strong.”

The coach also revealed that they had a chat on Dhoni’s chances of batting at no. 4 which would help him spend more time on the crease.

Well, the entire India would be pleasantly surprised and joyed if they get to see the power hitting Dhoni unleashing his brutal sixes in Bangladesh. Only time will tell.
