Naomi Osaka Battles Past Bianca Andreescu at China Open 2019 Quarterfinals

The Canadian tennis sensation, Bianca Andreescu took on the former World Number one, Naomi Osaka in the quarterfinals of the China Open 2019. Osaka concluded Andreescu’s 17-match winning streak in Beijing with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 victory over the US Open 2019 champion. 

Set One:

With Naomi Osaka squandering her chances to hold her first service game, she double-faulted and to give Andreescu the second break chance. With the Japanese placing the ball on the net, the Canadian held the opening break and later led by 2-0 in the first set.

Placement Bianca!

Bianca Andreescu kept he break up lead intact and refused Naomi Osaka to encounter a break point. The fifth seed of the tournament, Andreescu led by 3-1 as her service games near-perfect.

The style of tennis from the first game was depicted by Osaka again. Failing to hold her serve by committing consecutive unforced errors the Japanese went double break down at 4-1. With Bianca Andreescu’s persisting winners she held her serve to love and led by 5-1.

Flawless Return!

World Number sixBianca Andreescu turned a bit over-confident while she was serving for the opening set, with an increase in her unforced errors and Osaka uplifting her level of play, Naomi attained one of her breaks back and later held her serve to love at 5-4.

Unstoppable tennis from Osaka, she controlled the ball from the baseline and refused the Canadian to take the set and leveled it at 5-5.

However, Bianca broke Osaka once again at 6-5 and later holding her serve to love, Andreescu sealed the set at 7-5 on the third opportunity to serve for the set.

Set Two: 

During the elongated game at 1-1, Naomi Osaka was saving herself from going a break down in the second set. With her unforced errors peaking on her serve, Bianca Andreescu riveted the break at 2-1.

Osaka got a chance to level the set, but the relentless Andreescu tussled to make a hold at 3-1.

The Japanese took back her break and balanced the set at 3-3 and later holding her serve to love, she led by 3-4 in the second set.

Unlike the first set, the second one was driven by Naomi Osaka in the later stages as the astute Japanese closed it out!

Set Three:

The Grand Slam champions were putting up the show in the Chinese capital.

The match began drifting when Bianca Andreescu broke Naomi Osaka to love for a 3-1. Avoiding the deviation of the match, the Japanse came up with an unplayable down the line backhand winner and snatched away her break of serve from Bianca at 3-2.

The match was not seesawing at all and it was impossible to predict the champion until 4-4. With a clean winning stroke, Osaka turned around the match with a break of serve and progressed to serve for a place in the semifinals.

A dramatic game was played as Osaka was serving for the match. A challenge on the match point, the Canadian struggling to find her way to the semifinals and multiple deuces in the final game multiplied the thrill in the battle.

It was the Japanese, Naomi Osaka earning her spot in the semifinals of China Open 2019 with an ace.
