Amid Criticism, Great News for Chase Elliott and His Hendrick Motorsports Pit Crew

For a few races, Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott has been struggling, especially in the pit lane. However, the 2020 Cup Series champion does have a bit of good news greeting him.

As it turns out, the #9 pit crew boasts of the fastest average time for four-tire pit stops in 2022. In fact, the organization delivered an average time of an astonishing 11.671 seconds.

Unfortunately, his 2022 campaign has been littered with a number of poor pit stops. Back in March, he was on course to deliver a decent result at the Circuit of the Americas. However, a lengthy pit stop due to a right rear tire issue cost him and he could only muster 4th place.

Without those hassles, he could have either won or finished in the Top 3. In the end, he could only sit and rue what could have been.

Can Chase Elliott and Hendrick Motorsports fix the pit stop issue?

Truthfully speaking, it is definitely possible to improve on the pit stops. It has been a bit of a struggle to transition from five lug nuts to a single lug nut. However, the outfit simply has to improve.

Otherwise, they will end up losing out and costing the #9 driver the title. Already, he has complained of the numerous pit stop delays, and even wondered how long it would take to fix the problem.

At least he can take comfort in the fact that he is still leading the Cup Series championship in the regular season. Elliott knows that if he keeps having issues, he is capable of mounting a comeback.

However, he would rather like to avoid being put in such a situation in the first place. This is because he will have to put in an even bigger effort for the comeback.
