Kyle Larson hilariously revealed in an interview recently, the tale behind his son, Owen’s flip in a go-kart race and how the younger Larson wouldn’t come off the track. The Hendrick Motorsports driver and his son had taken part in a race that took place on either side of an infield and a bigger track.

And it was during the race in the infield that Owen Larson took a big tumble, to which the senior Larson made a hilarious self-deprecating joke.

“At least crashing does,” he said when the host mentioned how being a good sport after a crash “runs in the family.”

The defending Cup Series champion recalled how they ran to Owen to help him out and they were like, “‘Are you alright? Are you alright?'”, to which his son replied, “That Was Fun!”

“I was like, ‘Well then, you need to get out and go away to this crowd because you just took a big flip and they don’t know how well you’re doing. So he got out, he was waving, soaking it all in, and then I was like, ‘Alright dude’ after about three minutes of him doing all that,” Larson continued.

“I was like, ‘Dude, you gotta get off the track, they’re trying to get this race started back.”

Did Kyle Larson ever get in a big crash like his son when he was young?

When Kyle Larson was questioned about whether he too was fearful or had a similar incident as his son had, the Elk-Grove native simply said, “I don’t know, I’m not sure.”

But then he went on to remember how he was, at least in a general sense.

“From what I remember, not that I was fearful, but from what I remember when I was racing go-karts like at his age, I didn’t really crash much or anything like that,” Larson said. “I feel like I didn’t take too many risks.”

“But then once I got in the sprint cars and bigger cars, I was kind of crazy.”
