Chase Elliott is set to enter the 2021 Cup Series season as the reigning champion. This is a far cry from the fresh-faced rookie back in the 2016 season. In the 2015 season, he acknowledged that he was a racer who was trying to make it to the top.

In an interview, he admitted that the Cup Series was considered the creme de la creme. However, he insisted that even in the Cup Series itself, winning it would mean that he is literally at the top. Chase Elliott said, “There’s definitely a big difference in being a part of it and being at the top of things.”

The then-rookie confessed that it was a strange feeling to go to the races and not watch his father, Bill Elliott, race. Obviously, there is a bit of pressure on him to emulate his father, who was just as successful.

Chase Elliott wants to be known for his own achievements

Elliott believes that he needs to be his own person, instead of his father’s son. Of course, he would love to achieve the goals that his dad set, but only because they are great achievements to fulfill. In this way, he can be his own person and try to be even better than before.

In addition to that, he will lead a young and talented line-up in 2021. Aside from William Byron and Alex Bowman, Kyle Larson is set to join the HMS squad next season. Given the rich caliber of the side, they should be a force to reckon with in the coming season.
