Bubba Wallace Congratulates “Underdog” NASCAR Xfinity Series Driver after Kansas Race

The Kansas Lottery 300 at the Kansas Speedway concluded with Chase Briscoe winning. However, quite a few eyeballs were trained on Josh Williams, who finished in a career-best 6th. Among his well-wishers was Richard Petty Motorsports driver, Bubba Wallace.

Wallace was particularly thrilled because he has raced against him since they were 10 years old. As a result, he knew how much this result meant to the 27-year-old. Up until then, he has consistently been in the top 25, apart from a 34th place finish at Charlotte.

Whatever the case, Josh Williams raced his heart out and thoroughly deserved his 6th place finish. Wallace even tipped him as an underdog and was really happy for him.

What happened in the race and what next for Josh Williams and Bubba Wallace?

Williams and most of the pack navigated through some hairy moments during the race. One of them involved Anthony Alfredo ending up on his roof after a particularly violent crash.

In the end, Chase Briscoe won from Daniel Hemric, Ryan Sieg, Justin Haley, Austin Hill, and a delighted Williams. This cemented his slot in the playoffs and brought Briscoe a step closer to the Xfinity championship.

Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace contested at the Kansas Speedway, since the Cup drivers were the last to race on it. The African-American driver finished in 18th place after starting the race in 24th place. Both the Truck and the Xfinity races had already proven that the track is capable of claiming victims and the Cup race had its moments as well.

After the Hollywood Casino 400, the entire NASCAR paddock will head to the Texas Motor Speedway. Texas plays host to the next round of the playoffs and the competition is heating up even more.

Admittedly, Bubba Wallace has no designs in the playoff, so he has nothing to lose in the coming three races. However, he is looking forward to the 2021 season when he joins the Denny Hamlin-Michael Jordan team.
