Chase Elliott Reveals When He Will Be Able to Put Himself on the Same Pedestal as His Father

NASCAR driver Chase Elliott joined the “Stacking Pennies” podcast hosted by fellow driver Corey Lajoie. On the podcast, Elliott was asked if he could maybe one day equal his father’s 44 race wins.

Elliot said, “Man 44 is a big number. I feel like our team is capable of winning that much. You know, but 44 is something that happens over a really long period of time. You have to be successful for years and years to get to a number that large.”

He added, “For me, that’s the thing can you be that good for that long. In a lot of ways, I think that separates the good from the greats. In any sport how long you can be successful, how long you can stay relevant, how long you can be competitive and perform at your peak. Look I don’t know time will tell right. I feel like we are in a really good spot right now today. Will that be the case in two or three years? I don’t know. We’ll wait and find out.”

He further mentioned, “I think the ability is there, but you have to execute it at a high level to achieve that. Would love to get there and surpass it if I can. But only time will give us that answer.”

Elliot has been at the top of his game with three wins this year and currently leading the points table.

Chase Elliott wins a historic home race at Atlanta

The 26-year-old has been in his absolute best form this year, picking through the pack with the highest race victories this season. With the third coming at the recent Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Previously, Elliott achieved wins at the Nashville Superspeedway and Dover Motor Speedway. Atlanta being his home crowd, Elliott started on the pole and absolutely dominated throughout the race. Comfortably won stages 1 and 2 and then finally battled it out with Corey LaJoie during the final few laps of stage 3.

This was the Georgia native’s first home win. Therefore it became the second person from Georgia after his father to win at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
