Daytona International Speedway Makes a Major Announcement Regarding the 2021 Daytona 500

On February 14th, the 2021 NASCAR season kicks off at the Daytona International Speedway (DIS) for the Daytona 500. However, there is still a global pandemic raging around the world. In light of this, the track announced that the 2021 Daytona 500 will proceed as planned, albeit with a reduced capacity crowd.

Admittedly, the speedway did not specify an exact number of fans who will be allowed on the premises. However, it is quite possible that the speedway authorities will reveal the details soon.

What has been revealed is that any fans who bought tickets will be re-seated to adhere to social distancing norms. According to reports, the process will see its fruition by early January, well before the Daytona 500.

How will the NASCAR authorities tackle the situation around the 2021 Daytona 500?

With regard to the procedures, all fans will be screened before they can enter the venue. Obviously, every spectator has to mandatorily wear face masks and observe social distancing.

DIS President Chip Wile insisted that the 500 is regarded as one of the greatest spectacles in sport. He also declared that many fans flock to Daytona Beach to participate in motorsport’s biggest day.

Wile confessed that he is a little disappointed to not host a capacity crowd. On the bright side, he is glad that the Daytona International Speedway can host the Daytona 500 at all. To make matters even better, there will still be millions of people tuning in live on FOX Sports.

He said, “The Great American Race will once again have the aura and atmosphere that fans have come to know and love. From the pageantry of our pre-race festivities to the rumble of 40 engines roaring around the high banks, it’s the biggest stage in motorsports.”

Of course, everyone will try their utmost to stay safe from the pandemic. The last thing anyone needs is for someone to test positive and throw everything into jeopardy.
