After Jimmie Johnson was tested positive for COVID-19, it was announced that Justin Allgaier will replace him at Indianapolis.

Allgaier revealed that Hendrick Motorsports team already had a plan to deal with a situation like this. And the team made sure early in the year that all preparations to put Allgaier in any of the cars if needed are in place.

Justin Allgaier was talking to Bob Pockrass of Fox NASCAR. Bob posted a clip of his interview on twitter. Bob writes, “Even before the pandemic, Hendrick Motorsports had a set of pedals ready in case they needed Justin Allgaier. Allgaier, who will drive Sunday in place of Jimmie Johnson (coronavirus), explains the car preparation since last night”.

In the interview, he said, “Earlier in the year we had seat belts and pedals and basically an entire set of gear ready and waiting for me that if I have to drive one of their cars I could just fit in in any of their cars.”

After that, he added that the team has already started preparing the car for him. However, the process will be very long and exhaustive. He said, “They did unload the car last night and move everything around to make sure that my stuff(custom parts) was inside the car. In the morning I’ll have to jump in and set myself in there, make sure I’m comfortable in the car. The process is long before we can get to racing but it will be fun.”
