Every year, NASCAR holds a poll to decide who is the most popular driver of the year. Recently, NASCAR announced that voting is now open for the award. In light of that, Denny Hamlin took to Twitter to try and raise some support for himself. Admittedly though, not many people became big fans of his, especially after this year.

Needless to say, many fans mocked him on social media for his efforts to drum up support. A fair number of fans found it funny that he was beseeching everyone to vote for him. One even confessed that he is not a Chase Elliott fan, but he recognised that Denny Hamlin would have a hard time.

Others admired the Joe Gibbs Racing driver’s optimism. Meanwhile, one responded, “Hahahahah I’ll have what he’s having!! You don’t have enough fans even if they voted twice a day hahahahahahahhahah Maybe you finish ahead of matty d….maybe….”. Finally, there were fans who were still sore about his feud with Chase Elliott.

Denny Hamlin did have some supporters

Of course, it was not all bad news for the #11 driver. Despite all the hate for his feuds with other fan favorite drivers, he still has some loyal fans. While some of them voted, others planned to get more people to vote for the 40-year-old. However, they will likely have a difficult time, as Hamlin has not made it easy for himself.

For now, Hamlin will be getting over the disappointment of missing out on yet another Cup Series championship. It has been several years, and he has not win a single title yet. In addition to that, he has been the runner up on multiple occasions, so he will be desperate to finally get the monkey off his back.

The Florida native has been in the sport for 17 years, and time is running out for him to finally get that elusive title. 2022 provides yet another chance, but the big question is, how long can he continue being competitive?
