Last weekend, Clint Bowyer kicked off his NASCAR commentary career at the Daytona 500. He was alongside Jeff Gordon that weekend, and he seemed to have done a pretty good job. In a recent podcast, former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr gave his assessment of Bowyer’s commentary skills.
He said, “He’s got a lot of great energy, very funny, fresh out of the car, understands exactly what the drivers are dealing with. Just a great addition, in my opinion, to the Fox booth.”
Apparently, he made the race a lot more ‘watchable.’ There were concerns that if anyone else was in the commentary booth, there was a chance that the energy could wane. It is also worth noting that Clint Bowyer got a chance to experience his first rain delay in his very first race.

For the moment, the former Stewart-Haas Racing driver is glad to kick back for once. There is no need for him to subject himself to the hectic life on the road. It also helps that his brand of humor is openly welcomed in the Fox Sports booth.

Bowyer picked up the microphone in the wake of Darrell Waltrip’s retirement. The former driver seemingly links up well with Jeff Gordon and Mike Joy, and to be honest, the Bowyer-Gordon rapport was quite surprising, considering that they feuded with each other during their racing days.
Luckily, it seems that all has been forgiven and they now get along well with each other. This is actually a good thing, and the former drivers can play off each other.
