“He Made a Spoiled Dumbass From North Georgia Win 7 Races in Cup”:Chase Elliott Defends Hendrick Crew Chief

Chase Elliott is having a great run in NASCAR’s return races and he credits his whole team for the results. Recently, he came out in support of his long time crew chief Alan Gustafson on Twitter.

Chase was replying to a Twitter thread started by retired NASCAR Xfinity driver Mark Martin. Martin was replying to a fan Tweet about his 2009 conquest. In his tweet, he credited Alan for his successful 2009 conquest. He said, “It was the amazing Alan Gustafson that made them work. They drove incredible 2009.”

His comment didn’t go well with many people and tweets started pouring criticizing Alan’s skills as a crew chief. One user replied, “alan gusty is a g on the box. and you can see by Chase Elliot’s season thus far lol.”

After multiple exchanges, Martin responded by talking about his later career. He said, “So how did he take a 50-year-old driver and win 7 poles 5 races and run second in the points to @JimmieJohnson if he’s not that good? Explain that one to me. Alan Gustafson”

After that, Chase himself joined the thread in support of Martin defending Alan. Chase posts, “Or some private schooled spoiled dumbass from north Georgia win 7 races in cup… takes a special guy to make that happen I promise. AG is the guy, trust me.”

Alan has helped Chase Elliott, Jeff Gordon, and Kyle Busch win multiple races

Alan has been in the sport since 1997 and has been with Hendrick Motorsports since 1999. Currently, Alan Gustafson works as the crew chief for Chase Elliott at Hendrick Motorsports.

Before this, he was the crew chief for Jeff Gordon from 2011 until Gordon’s retirement in 2015. During his time with Gordon, he assisted him in winning multiple races. And was with Jeff when he became the 5th top driver on NASCAR’s All-Time Win List.
Additionally, he has worked as the crew chief for the number 5 car, driven by Kyle Busch in the NASCAR Xfinity series.
