A great thing about the internet generation is the widespread knowledge and awareness of mental health issues plaguing society. Fortunately, it has become easier for people to recognize when they need a therapist to help them out. The stigma associated with it has also become less severe. Recently, Danica Patrick confessed that she intends to always have a therapist. And she has a healthy philosophy for why she needs one.

A therapist is often a necessity for a lot of people because life is always as unpredictable as it can ever be. Fortunately, one can seek therapy from someone with professional knowledge and find the guidance one needs. One doesn’t even have to be in an unfortunate place mentally. Just having a therapist to go and talk to every once in a while to sort life out can be quite helpful in maintaining emotional balance.

Sometimes, however, people may experience over-dependency and rely on a therapist to always help them out. Not long ago, Danica Patrick found herself in a similar headspace and admitted that she intends to always have a therapist.

During a December 2022 episode of her YouTube podcast, she said, “I have a therapist. I actually plan to almost always have a therapist. I don’t think there’s gonna be a point in time in life where I just won’t. Maybe for a couple months at a time here and there—six months—but, I always plan to have a therapist.”

Therapy is a great outlet for anyone who needs emotional and mental support. The former Stewart-Haas Racing driver prefers having a therapist always. And she has a good justification for it, which might make her fans think whether they should have one too.

The retired NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series driver is someone who focuses on herself first, and her reason for always having a therapist is related to this focus-on-yourself approach. Explaining it in the podcast, she said, “The work should always be on yourself. Like you can’t change someone else. You can only change yourself. So that’s my word of wisdom of therapy.”
