“My First Response Was Anger”: Jimmie Johnson Talks About His Recovery From COVID-19

After, clearing for this weekend’s NASCAR Cup race at Kentucky, Jimmie Johnson talks about his recovery. Johnson was talking to Bob Pockrass of Fox NASCAR. In the interview, Johnson talks about his recovery, the orientation process, and the pandemic.

Bob writes, “Jimmie Johnson says he was initially angry after getting his first negative COVID-19 test Monday, four days after testing positive but has put that anger aside as he returns to racing Sunday at Kentucky”

Jimmie said, “My first response was anger. First the anger hits and then the speculations. I got so excited and start looking at the fact that I only missed one race. After that, I had this optimism that I’m going to get that second negative, and I did.”

“I fear that we all gonna have this at some point”: Jimmie Johnson

In another video, Jimmie continues his talk about his recovery and gives his thoughts on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Bob writes, “Jimmie Johnson says he is worried about the spread of COVID-19, says it is hard to give advice to sports leagues when so much is still to be learned and feels fortunate to have been asymptomatic”

In the video, Johnson said, “I’ve been very fortunate to be asymptomatic. I dealt with a lot of emotions. And I’m really happy to be reinstated.”

After that, Johnson said that he has no idea how to act to resolve this. And he feels that there is a lot to be learned about the virus. He said, “There are just more questions than answers. I certainly don’t have the answers. Watching how fast the virus is spreading and things staying open I fear that we all gonna have this at some point. I just don’t know how we will avoid that.”
