Several years ago, 3-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart organized a ‘small event’. As part of his Tony Stewart Live show, with the help of Armor All, he helped establish the ‘Stewie Awards’. He was in New York City for the awards, which were fashioned after the Grammys, Country Music Awards, and more. So, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver wanted to come up with his own version of the awards for NASCAR, and Kyle Busch was a recipient.

There were several of his NASCAR Cup rivals who made an appearance. One of them was Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Kyle Busch. Safe to say, Busch’s quip had Stewart laughing his head off. The #18 driver said, “My cars’ll stay clean, but I’ll stay as dirty as ever”. This was a reference to Busch winning the ‘ArmorAll Grittiest Move Award’, also known as the ‘I Got Dumped Award’.

What did Kyle Busch receive as a prize?

As it turned out, he received a year’s supply of ArmorAll products for car servicing. On a parting note, they hoped that Busch would keep things clean for the 2009 season. That was what prompted the driver to make the quip about his car being clean, but not his driving. When he spoke afterwards, he confessed that it was great to be in New York for the awards, especially when he got an award.

Since then, Kyle Busch has gone on to have a great NASCAR career. He has bagged two Cup Series titles and amassed several race wins to his name. In addition to that, he is tied with Richard Petty for the longest win streak in consecutive seasons. Coming to the upcoming 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, Busch’s long marriage to Joe Gibbs Racing is over. So he will be joining the Richard Childress Racing team, alongside Austin Dillon.
