IndyCar driver Graham Rahal takes a dig at Goodyear tires after a tire failure ended the chances of Denny Hamlin with just eight laps to go in the NASCAR Cup Brickyard 400.

Hamlin was leading the race and looking to score his first Brickyard 400 win. However, the tire puncture caused him to lose control and smash his car on the sidewall. After that, Kevin Harvick inherited the lead in the final restart and scored his third Indianapolis win.

Graham Rahal expressed his views on the incident and took a dig at ‘Goodyear’ by saying that he’s glad that IndyCar don’t use their tires.

He wrote,What a bummer for @dennyhamlin. All his race. I watch this and it just makes me so thankful to have @FirestoneRacing tires. Never have I personally entered a corner and worried about a tire blowing. Thank the lord!”

After the race, Goodyear tires posted a statement explaining the possible reasons for the tire failure. They said that high temperature could not have possibly caused the tire failure. Additionally, he reported that teams were asked to keep the prescribed tire pressure while pushing for more downforce in the oval.

Denny Hamlin ‘Gutted’ after losing the Brickyard 400

Denny said in a post-race interview, he said, “Just, it’s tough. I hate it for the FedEx team. We didn’t do what we needed to do and it didn’t work out for us today. I had a fast car obviously and was stretching it out there but wasn’t pushing the right-front (tire) at all. It’s kind of roulette if you’re going to get one that will stay together or not and mine didn’t. You saw the end result.”
