At the end of the 2020 season, Jimmie Johnson is set to walk away from full-time NASCAR racing. The 45-year-old ends his NASCAR career with 7 Cup Series championships, tied with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. Truthfully, so many people were hoping for one last hurrah, where Johnson bags an eighth championship.

Sadly, it never came to pass, as he struggled this year and failed to make the Playoffs. Recently, he spoke to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio about his 2020 season. He confessed that there were a few races where he should have done well, but things didn’t work out in his favor.

Jimmie Johnson also admitted that he would have loved to see his wife and children at the track. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 situation has got to a point where his children cannot be allowed inside the bubble.

No matter what happens this year, nothing can take away from Jimmie Johnson’s achievements. He has surely built himself a long-lasting legacy in NASCAR. At least this is not goodbye forever, because he is still open to racing in a handful of NASCAR events.
