Jimmie Johnson had a tough outing at the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond Raceway Saturday night. He completed it in the 31st position.

The seven-time champion was having inconvenience right from the start of the race at the Richmond track. It is quite a short track when compared with a no. of tracks in the NASCAR season. However, the No. 48 Chevy was not so good. Jimmie Johnson slammed into the wall in the early stages of the race.

He then had to pit for the damages to be fixed by the No. 48 group. Johnson inevitably tumbles off the lead lap. He was battling in the rear of the field for the remainder of the race. He finished five laps off the lead lap in 31st-place at the end of the race.

He also has his plans for next season secured, with a deal in place to race in the IndyCar Series.

Jimmie Johnson tweeted: “What a rough and disappointing night in Richmond. Some racing contact put us hard into the wall on the front stretch early in stage 1… it was a long long long night from there.”
