“Why is anyone surprised by this?” This is what Chase Elliott said after being confronted by questions about Kyle Busch, and how he has been a contender to win in all three races so far this season, with Fontana turning out to be his first win.

It’s true. Busch’s Richard Childress Racing era has started off on a pretty solid note, and if anyone is surprised by this, Elliott suggests they reconsider what they know about the sport.

That’s mind-boggling to me that anybody would be surprised that Kyle is a fantastic, one of the best racecar drivers to ever do this, and that didn’t change overnight,” he said in a post-race interview.

“So I’m not surprised that anybody who is, should rethink their NASCAR knowledge in my opinion.”

NASCAR fans bring the fireworks against Joe Gibbs after Kyle Busch’s first win

After Busch collected his first win in the #8 car, NASCAR fans, who have historically been divided over Rowdy, joined hands and called out Joe Gibbs for everything that happened in 2022.

Many fans have held him responsible for not only putting the two-time Cup champion through what he went through but also accused him for manipulating his racecar so he has bad results.

Of course, both of these may not be true after all, but this sentiment was once again on display after Busch won at Fontana.

After the race, Kyle Busch emphasized that there’s “nothing more rewarding” than going to the victory lane. He also claimed that this particular win ranks pretty high for him in all of his 61 wins simply because it proved to him, “[he] can do it.”

“I never doubted myself, but sometimes you do. You kind of get down, you wonder what’s going on and what’s happening, you put yourself in a different situation and you’re able to come out here and reward your guys,” he described according to CBS Sports.

Busch further added that he’s been “with a lot of great people” who have given him a lot of opportunities over the course of his career. “So it’s awesome to be able to reward them,” he claimed.
