Kevin Harvick won the last night’s Brickyard 400 after Hamlin was involved in an unfortunate incident. This win made Harvick one of the three drivers to have won back to back NASCAR Cup races at Indianapolis.

Last year, Harvick took home the Brickyard 400 win after starting from the pole position. He dominated the race and led 118 laps out of the 160 lap race.

This year, he got the chance after the race leader, Denny Hamlin, was involved in an incident with just eight laps to go.

Kevin Harvick and Stewart-Haas Racing dominated the show in the final restart

In the final restart, Harvick was accompanied by Matt Kenseth in the first row. And behind them were Stewart-Haas racing’s Aric Almirola and rookie Cole Custer. Thus giving Kevin a chance to make a smooth getaway while the SHR pair put pressure on Kenseth.

After that, Matt Kenseth revealed to NBC Sports after the race that it was hard for him to focus on challenging Harvick with Almirola on his tail.

Additionally, Harvick said, “Cole got a really good restart, was able to get attached to my bumper. Being right on the front row, especially late in the race, everybody is going to try to push as hard as they can to put themselves in a position to have the best restart.”

After that, Harvick stated that Cole’s push was a big help for him. He said, “We were clear before we got to Turn 1. At that point, you have clean air, and those guys were side‑by‑side.

We were able to break away right there. Definitely Cole was a huge part of helping us win this race at the end.”
