Kevin Harvick Made Hendrick Motorsports VP, Who Accused Him of Blatant “Lies”, “Eat a Tremendous Amount of Crow”

As the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs drew closer, Kevin Harvick looked more and more vulnerable. This was because he was still winless and doubts lingered about whether he would qualify. All of that changed at Michigan when he stunned many and won the race to book his seat. To really make a pointed stick, he won the next race at Richmond, shutting up a few critics.

One such critic was Hendrick Motorsports Vice President of Competition, Chad Knaus. In the midst of Harvick’s dry spell, he said, “I’m going to say, continue indefinitely. I don’t see the performance – I like Kevin, I think he’s a good race car driver, I like Rodney – but I’m just not seeing it.”

How did Knaus respond when Kevin Harvick took his two wins?

When Stewart-Haas Racing spoke about the wins, they insisted that they tweaked nothing on their cars. However, Knaus wasn’t convinced that that was the case with Stewart-Haas Racing and Kevin Harvick. He said, “Those are lies, lies I tell you. Because something has changed and I have to eat a tremendous amount of crow.”

According to Knaus, a month earlier, he believed that Kevin Harvick would not win before the Playoffs. He based his opinion on the fact that he had not seen physical evidence of SHR’s pace until Michigan. Having said that, he acknowledged that the progress made in the last couple of weeks was fantastic. He noted that Michigan is a difficult track, but it is a track that suits the Fords.

Now, Kevin Harvick will be looking forward to the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs in a couple of weeks’ time. Before that though, there is still the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at the Daytona International Speedway, as the regular season finale. That race is also the last chance for drivers to book their berths in the Cup Series Playoffs.
