Recently, an image re-surfaced of the legendary Richard Petty in his heyday. Over there, the 7-time Cup Series champion sported a rather cool-looking mustache. In fact, he looked quite ‘badass’, and his son Kyle Petty agreed with that assessment. However, some fans decided to stir the pot and called Petty Jr, ‘a disappointment’.

Obviously, the 8 time cup winner  did not take things lying down. Even many fans jumped in to defend the former NASCAR driver and son of the legend, Richard Petty. Kyle replied, “I don’t know what’s sadder for you, that you tweeted that or that for some reason you felt the “need” to tweet it. Might want to change the wording in your profile…thanks for thinking of me though”

While obviously not as successful as his father, the statistics speak for themselves. In addition to the eight Cup Series wins, he has finished in the Top 10 on 173 occasions. Out of his eight visits to Victory Lane, one of them was at the 1987 Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kyle Petty has won at Richmond, Charlotte, three times at North Carolina, Watkins Glen, Pocono and Dover.

He also enjoyed a season-best championship finish of 5th in the 1992 and 1993 seasons. Around that time, he competed for SABCO Racing in the #42 car. Through the course of his career, Kyle Petty has raced for various teams and drove for Dodge, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Buick, Pontiac, and Ford. It is worth mentioning that he kicked off his Cup Series career with Petty Enterprises, his family tea.
