The United States is home to a fair number of well-known monuments. This includes the Statue of Liberty, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and many others. However, there is another very famous monument, called Mount Rushmore, which is considered special because it bears the faces of four US Presidents. Athletes who have had the most successful careers are said to be on the Mount Rushmore of their field. Recently, NASCAR pitched a question to the fans about creating their own version of the monument.

Admittedly, the only stipulation was that the drivers needed to be living. As a result, it sadly disqualifies the late great Dale Earnhardt from the equation. If there was no such restriction, he would have undoubtedly featured on many fantasy Mount Rushmore suggestions.

Which NASCAR combinations did the fans suggest?

Naturally, the fans went all out with their suggestions. One interesting combination was Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart, Mark Martin, and Cale Yarborough. Another pitch included Edwards, Stewart, Kasey Kahne, and Juan Pablo Montoya. Apparently, Stewart was a popular choice, as he featured in yet another line-up. This time, his companions were Harry Gant, Jeff Gordon, and Ward Burton.

The likes of Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Jr also found their names featuring quite often. Other prominent drivers included Jeremy Mayfield, Ernie Irvan, Jimmy Spencer, Norm Benning, Steve Park, Michael Waltrip, and many more. Apart from them, there were other more interesting names. Even Danica Patrick received a special shout-out.

Unfortunately, the likes of Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, and others have not made it onto the Mount Rushmore lists yet. This is likely because they are still young and have a lot left in the tank to prove. It is possible that in a few years’ time, when they have enjoyed a little more success, they could be name-dropped.
