NASCAR Tradition of Giving Back to Society Continues as Phoenix Raceway Makes Huge Donation to Local Organizations

It’s the Christmas season—a time to reap the rewards of a year’s worth of effort. A time to indulge oneself, and also to be generous. The NASCAR family has had a long tradition of giving back to society. Several drivers, teams, and other professionals are actively involved in charitable activities. Keeping up the same spirit, Phoenix Raceway recently announced that it too has made donations worth $40,000 to local nonprofit social welfare organizations.

The organizations that received funds are all located in Phoenix itself. As per information released on Jayski’s, the amount was distributed among four local charities: New Pathways for Youth, St. Vincent de Paul, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and UMOM New Day Center. Since nonprofits like these work towards the betterment of society in one way or the other, it is a wonderful effort by Phoenix Raceway to give back to the community.

The President of Phoenix Raceway, Latasha Causey, remarked, “None of this would be possible without the unwavering generosity and support of our fans. Their donations fueled these grants, and we know the funds will make a difference for these worthwhile charities.”

After all, NASCAR is one of the unique motorsports events in the world where everything feels like family. Just as the fans love and support the sport, the organization, too, feels committed to giving back to the society that supports it.

How was the money raised?

The money was raised not just from charitable donations, but also via other sources such as  Arizona Lottery’s 50/50 Raffle and Track Laps for Charity. Another interesting way to raise money was by selling NASCAR-branded license plates being sold in the state of Arizona.

This was not the first and will not be the last time when the NASCAR community commits itself to charitable causes. Such initiatives have been taken in the past as well. Sometimes by other tracks, teams, or at times the drivers themselves. A number of major drivers, both past and present, have at least one charity in their name. These include Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr, Jeff Gordon, and Bubba Wallace, to name a few. They host charity events or even auction off their race merchandise to raise money and awareness toward respective causes.

But at the end of the day, it all comes down to the fact that the world of NASCAR is one big giant family. Despite differences, they look out for each other, both on and off the track. And at the end of the day, it is the greater community that benefits from all of this.
