Revealed: Chase Elliott’s Blunt Radio Message After Controversial Move By Hendrick Teammate Kyle Larson at Watkins Glen

Silence speaks louder than words. And this time, it spoke of everything that Chase Elliott felt during the Watkins Glen NASCAR Cup Series race. With his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson running into him up the track on the final restart, Elliott seemed disappointed after finishing at the fourth place. 

Although Elliott was evidently upset about losing the race and the 15 playoff points that go with it, he did not denigrate Larson. Seeing it as a part of the game while being happy for his team’s win, Elliott made it clear that there wasn’t much that the media could get out of him against Larson. 

Elliott started on the outside in the front row for the final restart. Soon, AJ Allmendinger gave Larson a shove to the inside lane. This moved Larson a few inches ahead of Elliott. Entering turn one, Larson slid through the corner, hitting the door of Elliott’s car. Taking the lead position, with Elliott two places behind him, Kyle Larson secured his second win of this season. 

As an instant reaction to Larson’s actions, Chase Elliott spoke a few words over his radio. According to Jeff Gluck, Elliott was heard saying, “Should have known better.”

Post this, Elliott completed remained completely silent in the last three laps of the race. This might be because this is not the first time Larson won at Elliott’s cost. At the Auto Club Speedway race in Fontana, a similar run-in occurred between the duo.

Chase Elliott was looking at a race win at the 2022 Auto Club Speedway race in Fontana. However, Kyle Larson hit Elliott’s #9 Chevrolet, and the car hit the wall. This forced Elliott to drive to the pit road with a flattened tire. And the incident took away all his chances of finishing first in the race. 

Although Kyle Larson clarified that the hit was not intentional, NASCAR Cup Series fans have a different opinion on it now. Larson explained that he did not look into the mirror, as he was too concerned about side drafting with Joey Logano during the race.
