Revealed: NASCAR’s Stance Amidst Growing Fear of Heating Issues at COTA This Weekend

As NASCAR moves to COTA this week, there could be some changes to the cars. With the heat concerns on the mind of various teams, some serious changes could be expected to give drivers some relief during the race.

To run for four hours in extremely high temperatures becomes somewhat an uphill task. However, the NASCAR hierarchy is thought to come up with something to help the drivers beat the heat.

When asked about the changes, Bob Pockrass, FOX Sports’s NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass reported, “I think NASCAR is comfortable with the changes made last fall to the cars with the duct in the windshield, the slits in the back window and the shorter exhaust line by the frame rail.”

What to expect from COTA this week?

Five rounds of cup series are over and Circuit of the Americas is set to host the next race. Chase Elliott leads the scoreboard with 171 points followed by Joey Logano with 164 points and Chase Briscoe in third place with 156 points.

Hendrick Motorsport is in a good place by far. The team has seen three of its drivers win a race as they picked up three wins out of five. Kyle Larson, William Byron, and Alex Bowman all have one win each. Hendrick Motorsport will look to keep their winning momentum going. It’ll be interesting to see if they can fetch their fourth win of the season.

The Circuit of the Americas to host its second race in the series’ history. This will be the first road course race of the 2022 season. The qualifying for the race will get started at 11 am ET on Saturday.
