The Kimmel Racing driver Scott Melton suffered a vicious crash during the General Tire 200 race at Talladega Superspeedway. The ARCA Menards Series is at Alabama for the third race of the season. As Melton suffered the crash, he was immediately transported to a local Alabama hospital for further check-ups.

The number 69 car driver suffered the horrific crash just after Richard Garvie hooked Toni Breidinger. Soon after the duo hit each other, Eric Caudell spun into the infield to go right in front of Scott in lap 48.

The 60-year-old has revealed his condition post the accident. The racing driver has posted on Facebook and conveyed, “Today didn’t go as planned. Currently, I’m in the hospital, after some nice gentleman offered me a helicopter ride, in Birmingham, Alabama. I will have surgery first thing in the morning to repair a compound fracture on my lower left leg. Sounds like a fairly simple procedure.”

“Hoping to fly home tomorrow. Apparently we won’t be in the late model at Salem tomorrow. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. We live to fight another day. Really appreciate everyone at Kimmel racing. They delivered another great car.”, concluded the ARCA Menards Series driver.

How bad was the crash for Scott Melton?

There was flame coming out of the number 69 Ford Fusion after the crash. Even though Scott signaled that he was okay, he couldn’t come out of the car on his own. As a result, the officials extricated the veteran driver from his vehicle at the Talladega Superspeedway.
