The NASCAR Truck Series race at the Kentucky Speedway came to an early conclusion owing to Mother Nature’s interference. After two stages concluded, the heavens opened, prompting the red flags to wave. When the second stage wrapped up, Sheldon Creed emerged as the winner.

Creed staved off a stiff challenge from several drivers including Ben Rhodes. Then on lap 52, he survived a three-wide restart and held the lead through the second stage.

When the sky fell on everyone’s’ heads, the officials realized that the conditions were too dangerous and called it off.

Since two stages were complete, it was enough for the stewards to declare the race complete and award Creed a maiden victory. While the race was still on, Sheldon Creed pulled off a bold move around Rhodes and rookie Zane Smith on the restart.

Sheldon Creed was delighted to take the victory

It is worth noting that Rhodes won the race in Kentucky back in 2018, but could not repeat the feat. Meanwhile, defending series champion Matt Crafton took third place after starting in 6th place.

Johnny Sauter and championship leader Austin Hill ended up completing the top five.

Meanwhile, Christian Eckes, Zane Smith, Derek Kraus, Tanner Gray, and Todd Gilliland rounded out the top 10. In addition to that, Brett Moffitt ended his race at 11th after charging his way through the field following a pit stop penalty after Stage 1.

As it turns out, this marks Creed’s first career win in 37 series starts with two runners-up positions as his best finish. Sheldon Creed acknowledged that he would have loved to gain a proper win in front of the real checkered flag.

However, he conceded that he was worried about driving on the bottom of the race track to make the winning move.

Speaking to the media after the race, Sheldon Creed said, “Have to thank all my guys, who have been putting so much time in the shop. Really wish I could have gotten to the finish line and finished that outright but I’ll take this win.”
